Designing Web Interfaces - Some Thoughts, Examples, and So On

Designing Web Applications are becoming more and more important.

Today (04/01/2010) one of the sites is changing just one word. They are replacing word 'fan' with the word 'like'. It's very subtle change but very well thought out. It's things like this that's important to constantly read and follow the trends and changes in design and technology.

The book "Designing Web Interfaces" is good refresher for seasoned Front End Developers, Designers, Architects, and whoever likes web design/user interface.

I created a nice summary from the book, Tabbed Summary, where you can see the topics all together much easier(needs more things to be added, but when time permits, I will update the rest of pages).
(Reading the book is highly recommended!!!).

The tabbed interface code, is from another very nice resource, a UK magazine Practical Web Design, every month gets published. Barnes and Nobles and Borders stores caries the magazine.

They are out there other resources and books as well. I will try to add more as time permits.

Here is an example of Expand and Collapse that is mentioned in the book, or as Inline Assistant Process in other part of the book.

In the book they mention use of hover menu (I will correct the wording later.) and that is hard to implement. I have to agree, it's really a lot of work, with very little return for the effort.
Here is the Hover Menu
